Return & Refund Policy
ByteBack Technology specializes in refurbished technology products. All devices are professionally tested, cleaned, and quality-checked before sale, and condition details are clearly disclosed in each listing. This policy explains your rights and our process for returns, refunds, and warranties.
Your Rights Under the Consumer Guarantees Act (CGA)
All products sold by ByteBack Technology are covered by the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act (CGA). This means products must be:
• Fit for their intended purpose
• As described
• Of acceptable quality for a refurbished device
If a product fails to meet these guarantees, we will provide an appropriate remedy in accordance with the CGA.
Repair, Replacement, or Refund
If a fault arises during normal use, ByteBack Technology will assess the issue and, where applicable:
• Repair the product if the issue is minor and repairable
• Replace the product with the same model or an equivalent model if repair is not practical
• Refund the purchase if the issue is major, cannot be repaired, or a suitable replacement is unavailable
The appropriate remedy will be determined in line with the CGA.
Warranty Period
Unless otherwise stated on the product page, all refurbished devices include a **3‑month Return‑to‑Base (RTB) hardware warranty**.
This warranty covers hardware faults that arise under normal use during the warranty period and operates alongside your rights under the CGA.
What Is Covered
• Hardware faults not caused by misuse or damage
• Components that fail during normal use
• Issues that prevent the device from operating as described
• Battery health falling below the stated level at the time of sale
• Operating system activation issues where Windows is supplied
What Is Not Covered
• Accidental or physical damage after purchase (drops, cracks, liquid damage, etc.)
• Damage caused by misuse, neglect, or incorrect power adapters
• Unauthorized repairs or modifications
• Software issues caused by user-installed applications or settings
• Forgotten passwords, account lockouts, or data loss
Cosmetic wear consistent with the listed condition grade is not considered a fault.
Change of Mind Returns
Change of mind returns are not required under the Consumer Guarantees Act and are generally not accepted.
If you believe an item was not as described, please contact us so the matter can be reviewed.
Shopify Return Rules (Non‑Fault Returns)
Where a return is accepted outside CGA obligations:
• Returns must be requested within **7 days of delivery**
• The customer is responsible for return shipping
• A **15% restocking fee** may apply
Returned items must be in the same condition as supplied, including all accessories where applicable.
Return Shipping
• If a product is faulty under the CGA or warranty, ByteBack Technology will cover return shipping
• For returns outside CGA coverage, the customer is responsible for all return shipping costs
How to Request a Return
Please email Orders@ByteBackTechnology.co.nz with:
• Your full name
• Order number
• Description of the issue
• Photos or videos where relevant
We will respond with instructions and next steps as soon as possible.
Data Responsibility
Customers are strongly advised to back up all data regularly. ByteBack Technology is not responsible for data loss that may occur during diagnostics, repair, or replacement processes.
